Στις 23-5-2010 ημέρα του μνημοσύνου του Κώστα Ηλιάκη δημοσιεύθηκε στην ιστοσελίδα της τουρκικής εφημερίδας Χουριέτ το εξής σύντομο σχόλιο του Διευθυντή του Ελληνικού Κέντρου Ελέγχου Όπλων Δρ.Θεοδώρου Λιόλιου στη μνήμη του Ήρωα αξιωματικού: Kostas Iliakis’s Memorial (It’s been already four years!) Greece mourns today as we remember the loss of a brave Greek pilot (Kostas Iliakis) who was killed four years ago defending his country. We call the Turkish nation to share the grief we all feel and, perhaps in that sharing, to find the strength to bear our sorrow and the courage to look for the seeds of hope for a peaceful Aegean. Our nation’s loss is first a profound personal loss to the family and the friends and loved ones of our Hero . To those He has left behind – the mother, the father, the wife, brothers, sisters, and yes, especially the children – all of Greece stands beside them in their time of sorrow. The best we can do is remember our Hero as he lived, bringing life and love and joy to those who knew them and pride to a nation. Kosta we will always love and remember you. Thank you!
